Phuket expects B4.5bn from tourism this Songkran

PHUKET: The Phuket office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT Phuket) expects this Songkran holiday to generate a total of B4.53 billion in tourism-related revenue from April 13 through to April 16 giving a daily average of B1,13bn in earnings.

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police has issued an official statement clarifying the initial reports of a taxi ’controversy’ in Karon which ended up with one driver hitting another on the head with a wheel wrench. It has been confirmed that the wrench-wielder was not the driver from the hotel taxi queue but the other legally registered Phuket cabbie who received an order via inDriver app and came to pick up his passenger from the hotel.

CAAT reminds of fare ceilings as Bangkok-Phuket flights remain among most expensive

PHUKET: The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has reminded Thai and foreign passengers that it had set fare ceilings for all domestic flights in the country and air carriers must not exceed the limits or will face action from the CAAT. The list of maximum prices was published alongside a press release explaining actions in response to prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s order to tackle the soaring prices of air tickets. The Bangkok-Phuket route was specifically mentioned by the CAAT as the one receiving the biggest number of complaints about fares.
