Long holidays to generate B17bn from 5m trips

BANGKOK: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) predicts there will be 4.96 million trips and B16.6 billion in circulation in the country over the July 28-Aug 2 holidays. Phuket’s share has been previously estimated at B2.2bn in revenue from over 234,000 trips.

MANILA: Severe tropical storm Khanun will likely intensify to a typhoon either late Sunday (July 30) or early Monday (Aug 1), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has announced. The typhoon may make landfall in China’s economically important Zhejiang province as early as Tuesday (Aug 2) becoming the third one to hit the country in three weeks, Chinese weather forecasters add.
