Five Russians charged for abduction, B30mn extortion in Phuket

PHUKET: Five Russian nationals have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to abduct a Belarusian national and his wife, and extorting B30 million in cryptocurrencies from them. Police have confirmed that no harm has been done to the victims, but the culprits succeeded in making them transfer the aforementioned sum. The name of the cryptocurrency is not known, though police have revealed the exact sum in US dollars – USD 801,200.
