Police managed to track down the woman to question her over the incident, first reported early yesterday morning (Jan 31).

The woman had entered the restroom at about 3:10am, police noted in their report.

As previously reported, after the woman had entered the women’s restroom, a Thai man ‒ a bus company employee ‒ entered the men’s restroom.

The man heard sounds coming from the women’s restroom, police said.

After walking into the women’s restroom, he encountered the foreign female tourist, the police report continued.

On seeing the man, the woman screamed for help. A monk walking past outside heard her scream and came running to help, police said in their report.

At that point the woman promptly left the scene, while the monk admonished the man, who in turn repeatedly offered the monk a wai of apology.

Of note, the report gave no explanation as to the man being in the women’s restroom for nearly a full minute before the monk came running to help, as evidenced by CCTV footage outside the restrooms at the time.

The report gave no other details or any other explanation of police action to follow.

The woman tourist said she did not want to pursue legal action. Instead, she wanted to continue her trip to Koh Pha-ngan “in peace”, the police report concluded.
