The incident was reported to local police yesterday, with officers now looking to track down the man wanted for the assault and the woman left the island soon after.
The CCTV footage shows the woman shows the woman walking through the bus terminal at about 3:11am. She makes her way through the empty bus terminal to the restrooms at the back of the bus station.
A young man is then seen exiting a bus parked in one of the bays and making his way to the men’s restroom while wearing just a small sarong.
The man is then seen exiting the men’s restroom, and waits outside the door to the women’s restroom while looking around. He then enters the women’s restroom.
The man is in the women’s restroom for nearly a minute when a monk is seen entering the area. The monk appears to respond to something he heard, and runs towards the women’s restroom.
The young man from the bus exits the restroom as soon as the monk reaches the door, and immediately starts apologising and offering a wai.
The monk indicates for the woman to leave the scene, which she does promptly.
The monk is seen admonishing the young man, who continues to repeatedly offer a respectful wai and even prostrates himself on the floor.
The man continues to talk with the monk, as if offering an explanation. The man and the monk continue to talk while standing in front of the bus and looking in the direction where the foreign woman was last seen heading.
After several minutes, the monk makes his way to the bus ticket kiosk area, and the man returns to the bus.
Police have yet to provide any further updates on the efforts to track down the man, who works for a bus transport company, and the woman, who boarded a bus to Surat Thani.
