Thalang Police received a call from local resident Amnauy Aimurai, 61, reporting that a woman had had jumped into the lake at Bang Maluan, in Moo 8 Srisoonthorn, at 5:30pm.

He said the woman, dressed in a black shirt and black shorts and about 32-35 years old, appeared drunk and kept speaking confusedly about “life” and crying.

A security guard told police at the scene that he saw the woman pull up on her motorbike and walk straight into the lake.

The security guard jumped in and pulled her out.

“She kept crying and tried to jump in again, and shouted out loud, ‘Why my life have to be like this?’” he said.

People passing by helped him to keep the woman away from the water until the police arrived, he added.

Rescue workers arrived and transported the woman to Thalang Hospital.

The woman’s motorbike was taken to Thalang Police Station.

Police are now looking to contact the woman’s relatives so they can take the woman into their care and take her motorbike back.

The Phuket News notes that there is a “One Stop Crisis Centre” at each government hospital on the island that can help people cope with emotional distress. Thai speakers can call the 1300 help hotline.

I would imagine too many of them read the comments on this site. It takes a strong mind to keep some of them from driving one to distraction.

What is wrong in the air of beautiful Phuket that so many thai inhabitants take their life, try it or pretend it?
Why they not go first to the many government hospitals, to the 'One Stop Crisis Centre' there or to temple, pray Lord Buddha?
Why skip help steps, and make it a drama right a way?
Seek help, talk and pray.
Better days are always at the horizon. Be stronger.
