The arrests, announced on the official Patong Police Facebook page on Nov 16-17, were reported as conducted under the direction of Col Sujin Nilabadee, who formally remains the Superintendent of Patong Police Station, despite being removed from actual duty in March.

The first suspect was apprehended on the evening of Wednesday (Nov 15) when police officers inspected the Reggae Rim Tran Bar on Patong-Kamala road and found magic mushrooms for sale.

Over 140 grams of mushrooms were seized. The vendor, not named in the report, was taken to Patong Police Station and charged with illegal possession of category 5 drugs.

The second raid was carried out on the same evening (Nov 15) at the Summer Dream Shop on Phra Metta Rd. The establishment was selling only cannabis, but the vendor turned out to be a 28-year-old Moroccan national.

The Moroccan was taken to Patong Police Station and charged with working illegally in Thailand.

Finally, on Friday (Nov 17), Patong Police announced the arrest of Mr Htet Wai Aung, a 27-year-old Myanmar national. The date, time, and place of the arrest were not revealed. The man was found selling magic mushrooms (9 grams were seized) and electronic cigarettes (over 40 were seized).

The suspect was taken to Patong Police Station and charged with illegal possession of category 5 drugs and products illegally imported into Thailand.
