The award was presented during the monthly meeting of local administrative organisation executives held at Phuket Provincial Hall on June 10 and chaired by Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn.

The meeting also saw Sri Sunthorn Municipality receive a certificate recognising its achievements in developing a livable city during the 2026 fiscal year.

Following the presentations, Governor Nirat led discussions with local government leaders, department heads and representatives from relevant agencies on a range of provincial development issues.

Among the topics reviewed were improvements to the national Common Frame of Establishment database, updates on Phuket’s statistical data and progress in reducing waste at source through sustainable waste management initiatives.

Officials were also briefed on technologies aimed at supporting sustainable urban development, including high-efficiency biogas digesters and bio-nutrient systems.

The meeting heard updates on the recruitment and appointment of local government executives and officials, as well as a study programme for participants in the Advanced Local Government Administrator Training Course being held in Bangkok and Phuket this month.

Key infrastructure proposals were also discussed, including plans for a new fire station and municipal office building in Cherng Talay, a new municipal office building in Karon and improvements to Karon’s water supply system.

Governor Nirat urged local administrative organisations to work closely with government agencies and community partners to ensure Phuket’s development progresses in a balanced and sustainable manner.

He said cooperation across all sectors was essential to improving infrastructure, environmental management, resource conservation and public services while enhancing the quality of life for residents throughout the province.
