Pol Lt Col Natthaya Suphanphong, Inspector (Investigation) of the Kathu Police was informed of the fire, near the entrance to Prince of Songkla University, Phuket campus, in Moo 1, Kathu, at about 10:43am.
Firefighters from Kathu Municipality soon arrived at the scene and doused the blaze.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
The value of the damage caused by the fire has yet to be estimated.
The fire was the second fire in a commercial building in Kathu within days following the blaze at a building in the Golden Ville 2 housing estate last Friday (Dec 15).
Kathu Police Chief Pol Col Rungrit Rattanaphakdi was informed of the fire, and police have been tasked with investigating the causes of both fires.
