At around 10.20pm yesterday, officers at Kathu Police Station and emergency workers responded to the fire in Golden Ville 2. At least two fire trucks from the Kathu office of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) were dispatched to the scene.
The fire originated on the second floor of a three-story mixed-use building situated near the entrance to Golden Ville 2. Firefighters successfully brought the fire under control within approximately 30 minutes.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire started in a bedroom on the second floor of the shophouse. The cause of the incident has not been disclosed at this time.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The extent of property damage is yet to be determined. Kathu Police are actively investigating the matter.
