Qiting Lin, 30, was apprehended by Krabi Immigration Police, in coordination with Phuket officers, and brought back to Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings.
Pol Lt Wisarut Mahachoti, Deputy Inspector responsible for the case, confirmed the charge, saying, “The suspect has been charged with attempted murder. He has not yet given a statement, and the motive remains under investigation.”
He added that Lin has been remanded in custody without bail.
The arrest follows a violent domestic dispute at a house in Chalong early on Monday (May 4), in which a Chinese woman and her 13-year-old son, both Chinese nationals, sustained serious knife injuries.
Both victims were taken to hospital, where doctors later confirmed they were in stable condition.
The boy has since been discharged, while the mother remains under treatment in the ICU at Vachira Phuket Hospital with multiple stab wounds to her neck, back, arms and hands.
Police said the suspect fled the scene by car after the attack. Further investigation and CCTV footage later revealed he had travelled to Krabi and booked AirAsia flight AK867 to Kuala Lumpur, scheduled to depart at 11:50am on Monday.
Lin was arrested at the airport before boarding the flight.
“The family had a history of disputes, with the incident believed to have followed a heated argument that escalated into violence. Investigations are continuing,” Pol Lt Wisarut said.
