Operations from Oct 15-21 saw a total of 32 suspects arrested on drug charges, Phuket Provincial Police reported on Sunday (Oct 22).
Eleven of those were arrested on distribution and conspiracy to support the proliferation of drugs, Phuket Provincial Police noted in their report.
In making those arrests, police seized 1,038 methamphetamine (ya bah) tablets, 56.3 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice) and 6.5g of cocaine, police confirmed.
“In addition, we have cordoned off and searched various suspicious locations leading to seven suspects arrested under the Firearms Act,” the report added.
The 39 arrests in a seven-day period is a marked decrease from 64 people arrested in the seven days from Oct 8-14.
The arrests come as police continue their campaign to increase security and safety for tourists arriving on the visa-free scheme for Chinese and Kazakhstan nationals.
