The event featured a high standard of competition, with 8 teams participating from around Singapore and Thailand, including UWCSEA, the Australian School Singapore and the Singapore American School.

Made up of mainly Year 7 and 8 students, BISP’s two sides were the youngest in the tournament. Their aim was to play hard and fair and improve with every game. And the students did just that, proving to themselves and everyone watching that they have good potential for future tournaments.

The girls’ team, coached by Mrs Gates, just missed out on a play-off spot in the semi-finals, having surprised a number of larger schools with their aggressive, gritty defensive play. They finished with a comprehensive victory over St Andrews Bangkok 23-2 in the lower play-offs.

Despite being clearly outsized with four Year 7s in the starting line-up, the boys’ team, coached by Mr Blake, showed encouraging progress and a great attitude both on and off the court.

Thanks go out to Mrs Gates and Mr LaMantia for all their great coaching and support on the trip.
