The roadwork is carried out during nighttime to minimise disruption to motorists using Yaowarat Rd, one of Phuket Town’s main streets that stretches from Suriyadej Circle to Samkong Intersection. The resurfacing work is currently focused on the ’northern’ section of the street, not the historical part within Phuket Old Town.
“Update on the Yaowarat Rd surface improvement project. Now more than 50% of work has been done. The road has been resurfaced all the way up to Khao Tom 1 Baht Restaurant. The operational plan for this night (Sept 8) is to proceed further down from Khao Tom 1 Baht Restaurant to Gluay Nam Wa Restaurant. Work will commence at around 9 pm and continue until 5 am," Phuket City Municipality said in a notice.
"As the work continues, we kindly request further cooperation from the public. Please refrain from parking any vehicles on the sections of the road undergoing resurfacing on specified days," officials added.
