Pol Lt Kiattisak Saengmanee, Deputy Investigator at Kathu Police Station, was notified of the incident at 3:29pm, following a report from Bangkok Siriroj Hospital. The fall occurred just before 2:30pm along the roadside at the entrance to Kathu Waterfall.

Rescue workers transported the injured man, identified as Thongchai Thonglueang, 44, originally from Surat Thani, to Bangkok Siriroj Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the police report, initial investigations found that the incident occurred while a team of electricity workers was installing power lines in the area.

Mr Thongchai was part of a crew of eight workers operating with two cherry picker trucks, who began work at around 9am, said head technician Songchai Bunyasaplerddee.

The deceased had donned safety equipment before climbing a newly installed high-voltage pole, about 22 metres high, to carry out wiring work.

While descending from the pole, he reportedly lost his balance and fell about 20 metres to the ground.

Mr Songchai, who was at another location at the time, was alerted by a colleague before rushing to the scene, where he confirmed the fatality and notified the victim’s family.

Relatives later arrived at the hospital and did not raise any suspicion over the circumstances of the death.

Police inspected the scene and reported the case to their superiors. The body has since been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for final medical examination, in accordance with legal procedures.
