The first arrest was of Prathana ‘Na’ Khummit, 33, from Moo 8, Thepkrasattri. Officers apprehended her at a rental unit in Keha Eua-Athorn housing estate in Moo 1, Srisoonthorn, Thalang, where she was found in possession of 602 ya bah pills and 2.8 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice).
She has been charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, an offense classified as a commercial-scale operation with public distribution implications.
Following this arrest, the investigation led officers to a second suspect, Sunantha ‘Ta’ Thaiutsa, 39, from Bangkok’s Bang Khen District. She was arrested at another unit in the same housing estate, where police discovered 25,862 ya bah pills and 119.4g of crystal meth. She faces charges of distributing Category 1 narcotics, an offense deemed a threat to national security and public safety.
Both suspects were taken to Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Pol Col Akanit Danpitaksart, Deputy Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, stated that the arrests stemmed from the initial seizure of drugs from Prathana.
Under questioning, she reportedly admitted to purchasing the narcotics from Sunantha.
The investigation expanded, uncovering a larger drug distribution network, Pol Col Akanit said.
Sunantha allegedly admitted to sourcing drugs from Bangkok, storing them in her rental unit, and selling them to customers in Phuket, he added.
Police are continuing their investigation into the network’s connections and potential additional suspects involved in the operation, Pol Col Akanit said.
