Woman steals gold amulet, B600 cash from Patong smoothie shop

PHUKET: Police are looking for a woman who stole a gold amulet and B600 cash from a smoothie shop in Patong early this morning (June 28).

Patong Police were called to the shop, on Sawasdirak Rd, at 10:50am.

Ms Aum (not her real name) told police that she closed her shop at 2:30am and was back in the shop to reopen at 11am today when she discovered that B600 baht and a gold amulet of Luang Pu Boonna missing from the counter.

On reviewing CCTV footage, she discovered an unidentified Thai woman had entered the shop and stolen the items around 4am, prompting her to call the police.

Ms Aum told reporters that this was the first time she had experienced a theft at her shop. She expressed her hope that the thief would return the gold amulet, which she said was a cherished item.

Following the widespread sharing of the CCTV footage on social media, numerous people commented on and shared information about the thief. Some even provided additional CCTV footage to the victim.

The footage revealed the thief counting the stolen money in a nearby shop. Although she did not realise the value of the gold amulet, the CCTV clearly captured her face, aiding in the police investigation.

Police are now working to apprehend the woman and recover the stolen items.
