Phuket City Police confirmed that the accident was reported at about 5:12am, in front of the 7-Eleven Koh Kaew branch on the northbound lanes of Thepkrasattri Rd.

The deceased was identified as Wilasinee Tiprongpol, 30, originally from Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

According to Phuket City Police, Pol Lt Sumeth Petchruanthong, a deputy traffic investigator, was notified by the police radio centre of a motorcycle collision with a utility pole and was dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, officers found a Honda Zoomer-X motorcycle, orange and black in colour, lying on the road. The motorcycle bore a Ranong licence plate.

Ms Wilasinee, who was riding the motorcycle, was found seriously injured at the scene and was receiving first aid from a nurse who arrived shortly after the crash. Emergency responders then transported her to Mission Hospital Phuket for urgent medical treatment.

Police said that at approximately 6:20am, Mission Hospital informed investigating officers that Ms Wilasinee had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident, and police have not identified any suspects. Evidence from the scene has been documented as part of the investigation.

Phuket City Police Superintendent Pol Col Chatree Chukaew confirmed that further procedures will be carried out in accordance with legal requirements, including a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns over road safety in Phuket, particularly during early morning hours when traffic speeds are often higher and visibility can be reduced.

Police have urged motorists, especially motorcycle riders, to exercise caution, obey speed limits and wear appropriate safety gear at all times.

According to national road safety agency ThaiRSC, six people have already been killed and a further 674 people have been injured in road accidents in Phuket since Jan 1.
