Police at Tha Chatchai Police Station received a report at 3:38am that a person had jumped from the outbound side of Sarasin Bridge, which links Phuket and Phang Nga.
Officers coordinated with the Kusoldharm Phuket Sarasin rescue unit and other emergency responders to search the waters beneath the bridge and surrounding coastal areas.
A black Toyota sedan bearing Phatthalung licence plates was found parked on the bridge. Police identified the owner as a 37-year-old woman, from Phatthalung Province.
Search teams from Phuket and neighbouring Phang Nga Province searched throughout the early morning but were initially unable to locate her.
Later this morning, local fishermen alerted authorities after spotting a woman floating in the sea about seven to eight kilometres offshore in waters some 37 metres deep.
Members of the Sarasin volunteer rescue team immediately launched a boat and recovered the woman, bringing her safely ashore at Pak Phra Beach in Mai Khao.
Rescuers provided first aid before coordinating with Mai Khao Tambon Administration Organisation (OrBorTor) rescue personnel to transport her to Thalang Hospital for further treatment and medical assessment.
Authorities have not disclosed details of her condition.
Police said they will interview the woman to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident once doctors determine she is well enough to provide a statement.
