At 1.40pm yesterday (Jan 6), Patong Police Station was notified by employees of a local hotel on Prachanukroh Rd that they had to call in rescue workers to provide assistance to a woman following an incident near the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool.
It was reported that the 30-year-old Thai woman from Phetchabun province had a “quarrel” with a 40-year-old New Zealand man. The man was then seen carrying the unconscious woman down. The situation prompted hotel staff to call Kusoldharm Rescue Foundation and alert Patong Police Station.
At approximately 2pm, Patong Hospital notified the Patong Police Station of the woman’s death. Law enforcement officers are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident at the hotel pool. No information has been disclosed regarding the possible involvement of the New Zealand man.
Pictures from the rooftop pool area do not show any disorder or signs of a fight. The Phuket News at this stage withholds the names of the New Zealand man and the Thai woman.
