The woman, Tassanee Udomdej, 30, was assaulted by the Latvian on Soi Phuyai Nuay, off Patak Rd, at about 6:30pm on Saturday (Aug 10).

According to Ms Tassanee, the altercation began after the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, confronted her regarding his ex-girlfriend, a friend of Ms Tassanee. When she refused to provide information about her friend’s whereabouts, the man became aggressive and punched her in the face.

Ms Tassanee filed a police report at Karon Police Station shortly after the incident, but she claims that no progress has been made in the case.

She expressed frustration with the authorities, stating that when she followed up on Sunday (Aug 11), she was told that her case was considered minor compared to others and that no serious injury had occurred.

In response, Ms Tassanee took to social media, posting on her personal Facebook page to seek advice on how to proceed. She emphasised that she cannot allow a foreigner to harm Thai citizens in Thailand and urged the authorities to take her case more seriously.

Ms Tassanee has also called for an apology and mediation from the tourist, stating that she does not want him to cause further trouble for her or her friends.

Ms Tassanee did not explain how she knew the man, who she named in her post, or give any motive for him hitting her.

She did post a copy of the report to police and a medical certificate confirming an injury to her face from the assault.

Despite the incident, the man has reportedly continued to frequent the area, adding to Ms Tassanee’s concerns for her safety.

The case has drawn attention from local media, as many are now questioning the handling of the situation by law enforcement and calling for justice for Ms Tassanee.
