The attack occurred around 3:50am outside a well-known bar located at the beach road entrance to Bangla Rd. The victim, who asked to be identified only as ‘Ms B’, 26, works as at the bar where the incident took place.
According to Ms B’s statement to police, she had just finished her shift when her boyfriend arrived to take her home. A dispute broke out after a woman from a group of five to six Thai men invited her boyfriend to join their table, which he declined. The rejection appeared to provoke a confrontation, leading to a verbal exchange and an eventual physical altercation.
Ms B intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation but was struck in the left eye and knocked to the ground. She and her boyfriend were then attacked by several members of the group, who allegedly kicked them repeatedly. The violence only stopped when the bar’s manager and the owner’s son stepped in.
Police officers later arrived at the scene, and the alleged perpetrators were seen sitting in a bronze-silver pickup truck parked near the beach, not far from the police station. Ms B reported that she witnessed police speaking to the group but did not see any arrests being made at the time. One woman from the group reportedly mocked Ms B for crying, minimizing the severity of the assault.
Ms B proceeded to Patong Police Station to formally file a complaint and later received medical treatment for her injuries at a hospital.
CCTV footage from the bar, timestamped at 3:49am, shows the altercation unfolding, including the moment when Ms B and her boyfriend were physically assaulted.
The video footage shows several of the men restraining Ms B’s boyfriend while other men in their group take turns punching him in the face.
The case was initially brought to public attention by the Facebook page ‘สุดแจ๊คปลัดบอก’ (‘Top Deputy Jack said’), which posted an image of the injured woman and urged authorities to take swift action. The page claimed the suspects were affiliated with a well-known local business.
Police have not yet released further details about the suspects or confirmed whether any charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
