Officers from Wichit Police investigation team tracked and arrested the suspect, who was found in possession of methamphetamine pills (ya bah) yesterday (Mar 11), Wichit Police reported.
Police did not name the name or confirm how many ya bah pills he was found with.
Officers are now working to expand their investigation in an effort to identify and apprehend larger drug suppliers, the report said.
The officers were acting on orders from new Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, who took up his new post on Mar 7.
Pol Col Somsak emphasised his commitment to tackling crime in the area. He stated that law enforcement efforts would prioritise both prevention and suppression, targeting drug dealers at all levels.
“Our goal is to eradicate drug networks operating in our jurisdiction and beyond by coordinating with relevant government agencies,” he said.
He also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to aid in the crackdown on illegal drug distribution.
Additionally, Wichit Police plan to implement crime prevention measures, including the installation of CCTV and license plate recognition cameras at key locations such as the Darasamut Underpass, Pol Col Somsak said.
Discussions with government agencies are underway to finalize these security enhancements, he added.
