The wall is the property of property development company Pruksa Ville who recently purchased the adjoining land for a new development project.

Phuket Public Relations Department were informed of the collapse at 6pm yesterday and immediately sent out telecommunications official Preedee Aengsang to inspect the site which is close to the entrance to Si Suchat Grand View 2.

Mr Preedee was joined on the inspection by officials from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Rassada Municipality.

Speaking to The Phuket News today, Mr Preedee said, “After inspecting the site yesterday, we installed lighting and cones to the area where the wall has collapsed to make it safe for motorists.

A contractor appointed by Pruksa Ville has been working to remove the damaged wall today,” he said.

A representative from Pruksa Ville who declined to be named added, “We only brought this plot of land in June and no work has started on the project yet.

We found out yesterday that recent heavy rain caused the retaining wall to collapse so we appointed a company to come out today to remove the wall using backhoes, the removal of the wall will be finished by tomorrow,” he said.
