In France, Bastille Day is formally called La Fête Nationale. The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe is held on the morning of 14 July, on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, along with other French officials and foreign guests.
There are over 1,000 officially registered French citizens in Phuket, but the French embassy estimates the actual number to be around double that – almost all of whom will be celebrating Bastille Day on the day in the inimitable French fashion, with pride, flair and a joie de vivre.
There are a number of celebrations on the day, including an event hosted by UFE (Union Français de l’Étranger) at Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. Celebrations will begin at 6pm.
