The footage, posted on Facebook by user Komsun Inthong on Tuesday (July 14), shows a red Mazda 3 and a motorcycle travelling on Thepkrasattri Rd northbound in Srisoonthorn before the collision.

In the post, the uploader questioned the finding that the crash was a case of “joint negligence”.

“Was the student’s motorcycle at fault, or the red car? Officials say it was joint negligence. I’d like opinions from the public because my opinion aligns with my lawyer’s, but it differs from the police officer and insurance representative,” the post said.

The incident itself occurred on July 10.

According to the injured rider’s mother, her 16-year-old son, Sittidech Laksanathanyathorn, was riding in the left-hand lane designated for motorcycles when the red Mazda 3, driven by 40-year-old Chanjira Sretsiri, allegedly changed lanes without indicating and struck his motorcycle.

She said the collision caused her son to suffer injuries.

The video has attracted numerous comments from social media users, many arguing that the car driver should have moved into the left lane only after signalling. Some commenters also suggested the vehicle may have crossed a solid lane marking where lane changes are prohibited, leading them to believe the driver was at fault.

However, the circumstances of the crash remain disputed. According to the family and the video’s uploader, police and insurance representatives have classified the collision as a case of joint negligence, a finding they disagree with.

The case is expected to proceed through further investigation and legal processes to determine responsibility for the crash.
