According to Mr A (name withheld), 27, the ordeal began when his mother and his girlfriend, Ms Bow (name withheld), 29, returned home from a local restaurant. Outside the residence, five men were drinking beer and began shouting insults. When Mr A’s mother confronted them, the group turned violent.
The men attacked the mother, punching her in the head and slamming her to the ground until she lost consciousness.
The violence did not stop there. When Ms Bow tried to intervene, pleading with the attackers, one of the men, described as wearing a blue shirt, struck her in the face multiple times. When she fell to the ground he then kicked full in the face with force, leaving her severely injured.
Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the scene, helping the victims and transporting them to Thalang Hospital. Mr A’s mother sustained a head injury and remains shaken but conscious. Ms Bow suffered multiple bruises to her face, knees and head.
A police complaint was filed at Thalang Police Station, but the family has not been informed of any progress in the investigation or any arrests made.
The lack of swift action has sparked outrage, with Mr A calling for justice through the media. “This kind of violence, especially against women, cannot be tolerated,” he stated.
