Team sponsors, Hooters, sent over a cheer leading squad to support the club during the competition. On day one (February 28), the Vagabonds would win all three of their Group F matches to qualify for the knockout stages of the Cup portion.
However, the team lost 24-0 to tournament favourite the Jam Boys of Australia, Phuket hooker Rucus Malan was stretchered off with a neck injury. The squad would then drop down to the second tier competition to play the Nak Sue Tigers in the Plate semi-finals.
After punching a ticket to the final thanks to a 10-5 win over Nak Sue Tigers, the Vagabonds were set to face-off against French-side XV Gaulois.
The final started as a one sided affair with the French side enjoying most of the possession but solid defence from the Vagabonds didnt allow them to break the line. After the half, the match began to swing the Vagabonds' way. Phuket's Perch Habana smashed through to score what would prove to be the winning try which was converted by Darryn Mathee to win the plate 7-0.
