The incident occurred at approximately 4:50pm on Mar 25 on Chao Fa East Rd. A four-door pickup truck travelling from Chalong Intersection towards Phuket Town collided with two motorcycles heading in the opposite direction, causing significant damage and multiple injuries.
One of those injured, identified as Gert Geers, is now being treated in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Bangkok Hospital Phuket, where he remains in a critical condition.
Family members have issued a public appeal calling for urgent blood donations, specifically O-negative (O-) blood, which is currently in short supply in Thailand.
According to the appeal, donors can give blood at any Thai Red Cross Society blood donation centre nationwide. Donors are asked to clearly state that their donation is for Gert Geers.
The appeal has been widely shared online by friends and family, who stress that even sharing the message could help reach potential donors and save his life.
“Please help us save a life,” the family said in a statement. “There is a critical shortage of this blood type, and we are desperately asking for anyone who can help.”
Anyone able to donate is encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
People can also donate blood directly at the Phuket Regional Blood Centre, located at 38/193 Rattanakosin 200 Pi Rd in Talad Neua, Phuket Town.
The centre is open:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 8:30am to 4:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday – 8:30am to 8pm
Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays – 9am to 3pm
