Patong Police were notified of the death at the hospital’s emergency room at about 1:30pm, around 30 minutes after the man was pronounced dead.
According to the police report, the man was found unconscious in front of Jungceylon at about 4am and was transported to Patong Hospital by a rescue foundation.
Hospital staff told police that the man suffered continuous seizures after being admitted and remained under medical treatment before he died at about 1pm.
Investigating officer Pol Lt Narind Bilson attended the hospital, where the death was registered for post-mortem examination..
A preliminary examination by Patong Hospital coroner Dr Anawat Yongbut indicated that the man had a heart condition accompanied by gastric bleeding. However, police said the exact cause of death had not yet been determined.
Police are also coordinating with relevant agencies to establish the identity and nationality of the deceased. No identification documents were reported at the time of the initial investigation.
The incident is being investigated by Patong Police.
