Cherng Talay police said they had yet to identify the man and woman on the motorbike, apart from a receipt from a motorbike rental company showing the renter’s name as “Mr Ivan”.
When police arrived they found the two bodies and, nearby, a red-and-white Honda bike on its side, and an Isuzu pickup truck. Pieces of brain were found on the right front wheel of the truck.
Witnesses said that the two tourists were riding “very fast” from Cherngtalay towards Baan Don, neither of them wearing a helmet. The truck was coming in the opposite direction.
As they approached one another the driver of the bike lost control of it and it slid under the wheels of the truck.
