Two teens arrrested three sought for Phuket thefts

PHUKET: Police have arrested two teenagers and are currently looking for three more after they are alleged to have carried out robberies at two foreign exchange counters and stolen five motorcycles in Patong last night.

At 8pm, Kathu police were called to investigate the theft of five motorcycles from Patong beach and of B80,000 worth of foreign currency from two foreign currency counters.

Lt Col Suthichai Tienpo led his team of investigators to search for the suspects involved and check CCTV coverage in the area.

Police were able to arrest a 14-year-old boy from Patong and a 16-year-old from Phang Nga and seized a Honda Click motorcycle they believe was used in the crimes.

Police searched the home of one boy and found six motorcycles along with money in various currencies.

The two teenagers told police that there were five of them who took part in the crimes and that they used weapons for the robberies and thefts.
