Two Phuket tour buses in fender-bender

PHUKET: One tour bus banged into the back of another at about 6:30 yesterday evening (November 20) about a kilometre north of the top end of the bypass road, after the driver of the leading bus slammed on the brakes to avoid piling into two cars that had been involved in an accident moments before.

Suwat Huameun, 31, the driver of the second bus, owned by Vision Transport Co, told The Phuket News, “The two cars were chasing each other, and finally one rammed the other from behind.

“They stopped and both drivers got out of their cars. The driver of the car in front was a foreigner, and the one who hit him was Thai.

“They both drove away after they saw that they had caused a problem.”

Somboon Baannob, 35, the driver of the first bus, contracted to tour company Pegas, told The Phuket News, “I was driving behind them, so I hit the brakes hard, which caused the other bus to bump into me from behind.”

Neither bus was carrying passengers at the time, and no one was hurt, but the crash caused traffic to pile up for a while.
