Kathu Police were called to the Kuan Lim San Curve on Wichit Songkhram Rd, in Moo 1 Kathu, at 7:45am today.

At the scene, the officers found a black-silver sport motorbike in the grass beside the road and a blue Honda PCX motorbike on its side on the road beside the central reservation.

The rider of the sport bike, registered in Bangkok, was lying on the road with severe head trauma. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital, but pronounced dead.

The rider was found carrying an ID card identifying him as Nakorn Intana, 43, from Trang, but also a driver’s licence identifying him as Nirandon Intana, 43, from Trang.

Police surmised from witness reports that Mr Nakorn was heading towards Patong when he lost control of the sport bike and crossed the central reservation.

The sport bike then hit the blue Honda PCX, registered in Phuket, heading towards Phuket Town. The rider of the Honda PCX, Vladislav Antonenko, identified by a driver’s licence issued in Bangkok, was not injured.

The sport bike rider, Mr Nakorn, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and officers confirmed they could not smell any alcohol from him.

Both motorbikes were taken to Kathu Police Station as police continue their formalities in their investigation.
