Police said the incident occurred at a building under construction for the Kuan Din Daeng power plant project in Laem Hin, Koh Kaew.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the site at about 10:25am after Phuket City Police radio centre received a call from a security guard reporting suspicious activity inside the building.

Arriving officers from the Koh Kaew patrol unit, accompanied by security guards, searched the building and found one suspect, identified only as 36-year-old ‘Narit’, on the third floor dismantling electrical wiring.

Police said Narit was carrying a black leather shoulder bag containing orange electrical wire and seven tools allegedly used to cut the wire, including wire cutters, a screwdriver and a wrench.

At the same time, a security guard alerted officers to another man reportedly running towards the rear of the building. Officers pursued and apprehended the second suspect, identified only as 56-year-old ‘Somsak’, as he allegedly attempted to flee from the site.

A search of Somsak allegedly uncovered a flashlight, a voltage tester screwdriver and a bidet spray nozzle in his trouser pocket.

Both men were charged with jointly stealing property belonging to another person.

Police also said Somsak tested positive for crystal meth, while Narit tested positive for methamphetamine pills (ya ice). Each man was additionally charged with unauthorised consumption of a Category 1 narcotic.

The suspects and seized items were taken to Phuket City Police Station before being handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
