Officers at Chalong Police Station launched an investigation after receiving reports from several victims about recurring thefts involving electrical wiring and fuel. The incidents, which caused concern among residents, were linked to suspects travelling on a modified motorcycle with a sidecar.

Through CCTV footage and evidence gathered at the scenes, police identified two suspects: a 24-year-old man, known as ‘Lek’, and a 42-year-old man, known as ‘Mai’. Authorities compiled the evidence and submitted it to investigators, who sought arrest warrants from the Phuket Provincial Court. Warrants were subsequently issued in connection with three separate cases.

Investigators moved to apprehend the suspects on Saturday (Mar 28). Both men were taken into custody and, during questioning, confessed to the crimes, admitting they had stolen property and sold it on.

Police said the pair have been charged with jointly committing theft at night while concealing their identities and using a vehicle to facilitate the crimes and transport stolen goods or evade arrest.

The motorcycle believed to have been used in the offences was seized as evidence.

Both suspects have been handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
