The arrests were made yesterday (Oct 12) under the national campaign ‘No Drugs No Dealers’, conducted in line with the Ministry of Interior’s campaign to create drug-free communities.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum, with Deputy Commander Pol Col Oknit Danpitaksat, Thalang Police Superintendent Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong, and Deputy Superintendents Pol Lt Col Pachai Mathayon and Pol Lt Col Preecha Baringphatthanakul overseeing the action, said an official report of the arrests.

Thalang Police investigation teams led by Pol Lt Col Suchart Luecha, together with officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and the Crime Suppression Division, moved in to make the arrests at a resort in Pa Klok.

At the scene, officers arrested Somkid Kongnam, 50, and Panitchanat Sengiam, 43, both residents of Pa Klok.

Police reported seizing 662 ya bah pills, 30.2g of crystal meth, two sets of drug-taking equipment and two mobile phones valued at about B12,000 in total.

The pair were taken into custody and charged with joint possession of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, an offence considered to pose a threat to public safety and social stability.

The arrests were recorded in the national Police 4.0 database as part of ongoing efforts to trace and dismantle drug distribution networks in Phuket, Thalang Police reported.
