The theft took place at the CP Gold Master on Soi Bang Yai, located behind the Big C shopping centre on the bypass road, just after 3:20pm on Monday (Mar 31), Wichit Police reported.
The shop’s employee, Kanokrat Wannun, reported the incident to Wichit Police Station.
Upon receiving the report, Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang led a team of officers, including Wichit Police chief investigator Pol Lt Col Yuthaphon Phromdao, to the scene.
According to police, the two perpetrators arrived at the shop on a grey-black Honda Forza motorbike with its licence plate removed.
One suspect, initially described by police as “disguised in women’s clothing and wearing a headscarf”, entered the store under the pretense of selecting gold jewelry.
Upon finding an opportunity, the suspect grabbed a ‘2-baht gold bracelet’ and fled the store, running towards the waiting motorbike, police said.
Following the theft, the suspects sped off along Soi Bang Yai, heading toward the Samkong Intersection.
To track down the suspects, officers reviewed CCTV footage along the escape route, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects.
The time and place of their arrest was not reported. Photos by police showed the motorbike being recovered, along with the missing licence plate.
Police later identified the suspects as Mr Pinij Saman and Ms Supawadi Kaewthong, who were subsequently arrested.
Both Pinij and Supawadi are in custody and will face charges for the theft, Wichi Police reported.
