Officers from the Phuket Provincial Police Narcotics Suppression Division arrested Itthichai Imsombat, 40, and Boonyarit Muttaphan, 44, during a raid on a three-storey commercial building in Ratsada early on Saturday (June 20). A third suspect, 43-year-old Charan Kongsuwan, remains at large.
Police seized 1,195.19 grammes of crystal meth, 1,794 methamphetamine pills (ya bah), a digital scale, two mobile phones and a total of 18 items believed to be connected to the drug trafficking operation.
The two men have been charged with jointly possessing Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell without permission, an offence police said was carried out for commercial purposes and resulted in the distribution of drugs to the public, affecting public safety and national security. They also face charges of illegal consumption of Category 1 narcotics.
Both suspects and the seized evidence were handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police said efforts are continuing to locate and arrest Charan, who is alleged to have been involved in the same drug trafficking network.
