At about 10:40am, officials detected a suspicious object inside a suitcase bearing baggage tag number 735962, which was set to be loaded onto Malaysia Airlines flight MH787 to Kuala Lumpur, reported police.
Upon closer inspection, security personnel found a 5.56mm M193 bullet in the pocket of a green jacket inside the suitcase.
Police from Sakhu Police Station, led by Deputy Chief of Investigation Pol Capt Kornphumphon Phongpaiboon and Investigation Chief Pol Lt Col Chamnan Inthanon, responded to the scene.
The luggage belonged to 29-year-old Turkish national Isa Ates, who confirmed ownership of the suitcase and jacket but denied any knowledge of the bullet.
Ates was taken to Sakhu Police Station and charged with possession of ammunition without a permit, a violation under Thai law.
He was informed of his rights and taken into custody for further legal proceedings, police said.
