Karon Police reported the incident occurred at about 1:25pm at the three-way intersection near the Orchidacea Hotel on Kata Noi Rd where it meets the Kata-Saiyuan road.
Pol Lt Col Surasak Sudmuang, Investigating Officer at Karon Police Station, was notified by the station’s radio centre and responded to the scene together with senior officers.
At the scene officers found a white truck, registered in Samut Sakhon and driven by 61-year-old Sittipong Kongsomat, who was not seriously hurt but suffered a minor injury to his right ear. His passenger, 56-year-old Supanee Jiuprasat, sustained minor injuries.
A red Mazda sedan, which was parked at the roadside at the time, was struck by the truck and suffered damage. No one was inside the car.
Police confirmed there were no fatalities.
Officers conducted a scene investigation and reviewed nearby CCTV footage. Further legal proceedings are to follow as police continue their investigation, officers said.
