Thalang Police were called to the scene, near the u-turn in front of the Khun Mae Ju shop in Muang Mai, at about 9:45am.
The six-wheeled truck, registered in Nakhon Pathom, was parked near the shop. The driver, Nattapol Khamsuwan, 34, was waiting by.
The trailer truck, registered in Phuket, was in front of the commercial building. Before it came to rest, the trailer truck had hit two parked pickup trucks, a motorbike and damaged the glass storefront of the commercial building.
The trailer truck, hauling a load of gravel, had one of the pickups still pinned beneath it.
CCTV footage showed that Mr Nattapol, driving the six-wheeled truck, pulled out at the u-turn, cutting in front of the trailer truck traveling southbound on Thepkrasattri Rd.
The trailer truck driver, not named in the initial report by police, braked and swerved to avoid a collision, but lost control and veered into parked vehicles and the shopfront.
The driver of the trailer truck was taken to Thalang Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not described as serious.
No other people were injured in the incident.
Mr Nattapol, the driver of the six-wheeled truck, was taken to Thalang Police Station for “further legal proceedings”, police noted.
Officers are reviewing the CCTV footage as part of the investigation and assessing the extent of the damages caused by the accident, police said.
