The incident was captured on CCTV. The footage shows the tourist accidentally driving his motorbike straight into the restaurant, hitting a parked motorcycle and a table.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and the damage was minor. The restaurant, Mangmee Dim Sum, was open and serving customers when the event unfolded.
The footage was shared online by Facebook user Amphika Giew, who humorously captioned it: “Whenever you’re hungry, stop by”.
The post quickly gained traction, sparking playful comments from netizens. “The food must be so delicious you can’t stop,” said one comment, and “No need to fight over a table like that!” said another.
Others noted the driver’s politeness, with one comment reading, “The wai is beautiful, good that no one got hurt.”
When asked about the incident, the restaurant owner shared that the tourist immediately apologised with a wai, a traditional Thai gesture of respect.
“I didn’t hold a grudge,” the owner said.“He was clearly embarrassed and sorry.”
Despite the mishap, it seems the unexpected publicity has added a new layer of fame to the modest dim sum shop.
