Information about the discovery was passed on to the Tourism Business and Guide Registration, Phuket Office by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) on Wednesday (June 8).
Phattara Lamontri, a legal official from the Tourism Business and Guide Registration, Phuket Office told The Phuket News yesterday (June 9), “We discovered that the tour company who had taken the Chinese tourist on the tour was not in our system. This suggests that the company is illegal and operating without a licence.
“Montree Jongkijthana, 61, was the tour guide who led the tour on behalf of BDT Co Ltd on May 25. Mr Montree will be investigated and if we find he has broken the law he will be charged accordingly and will face punishment of one year in prison, a fine of B100,000 or both.
“In addition, BDT Co Ltd will be charged with operating a tourism business without licence,” he said.
