TasteAtlas ranked tom kha gai top of the list, with 4.7 out of five stars. There were a total of 1,376 entries for the ranking, reports the Bangkok Post.
Tom kha gai is a chicken coconut soup prepared with a variety of fresh herbs including galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, shallots, bird’s eye chillies, and mushrooms.
This comforting dish is characterised mainly by the sour flavour from lime juice and the salty flavour provided by fish sauce, accentuated by tamarind juice, and palm sugar and garnished with fried chillies. The soup is commonly served and eaten with steamed rice.
Ciorba radauteana from Romania was ranked second, followed by zeama from Moldova and Algeria’s chorba beida.
Next was supa (de pui) cu taietei also from Romania, bela corba from Serbia, El Salvador’s sopa de gallina india, Peru’s inchicapi, Poland’s rosol z kury, and chikhirtma from Georgia.
