Starting the final round five strokes behind leader Khemkon Limbhasut, defending champion Tirawat carded one eagle, nine birdies and one bogey to finish on 25-under 263 and win the tournament for the third time. He also triumphed in 2017, reports the Bangkok Post.

It was his fourth title on the All Thailand Golf Tour. His other victory was at the Singha Pattaya Open in 2018.

Khemkon (69) and Poom Saksansin (68) shared second place on 23-under 265.

Tirawat, playing in his first tournament of the season, admitted he wasn’t fully recovered from an illness last week, but he regained his confidence through excellent putting and playing without putting too much pressure on himself.

“I feel less pressured than before. Previously, I practised hard and had high expectations for the results, but now it feels like reuniting with friends and the team. It feels warm and actually helps me play better,” said the 31-year-old.

“I’m very happy to have successfully defended the title. I’ll definitely be back to compete next year and hope to achieve a hat-trick of wins in this tournament.”

Tirawat received B450,000 while Poom and Khemkon got B225,000 each.

The next tournament on the tour is the B15mn Queen’s Cup Thailand Championship, which will be held at the Riverdale Golf Club in Pathum Thani between July 2-5.
