The incident was reported at 5:40pm. First responder Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Modell, a British volunteer with the Patong branch of the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, arrived in a rescue vehicle and found two victims injured on the roadside and a third lying over a wall down a steep embankment.
Mr Modell treated the roadside victims – one with a medium-sized open wound to the leg, the other with a suspected dislocated shoulder – before assisting a Kusoldharm ambulance crew in treating the third victim, who suffered a large open wound to the leg.
While the third patient was being lifted to safety by rope rescue personnel, Mr Modell transported the two initial victims to Patong Hospital. The third victim was later brought up and also taken to the same hospital.
The crash occurred at the same location as a previous accident on May 30.
