Officers from Chalong Police Station carried out the operation yesterday (Mar 17) following a tip-off about a man known as ‘Joke’ allegedly selling drugs to young people in a community behind a local market in Rawai.
Chalong Police did not define the exact location of the arrest.
According to police, an investigation revealed frequent foot traffic in and out of a room behind the market, raising suspicions of illicit activity. Officers moved in, identified themselves and conducted a search of the premises.
Inside, they found three suspects ‒ identified only as Joke, Long and Ton ‒ along with a substantial quantity of drugs and equipment.
Seized items included 1,359 ya bah pills, 8.62 grammes of crystal meth, and 8.56g of crushed methamphetamine.
Police also confiscated a digital scale, plastic bags used for packaging, three mobile phones and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the operation.
All three suspects have been charged with jointly selling Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell without permission. One of the men is also facing an additional charge for drug use.
Chalong Police did not name the suspects arrested.
The suspects and all seized items have been handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal proceedings as the crackdown on drug activity in the area continues.
