The operation, dubbed ‘Operation 1386: Combating Drugs’, was launched by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Region 8 in cooperation with Chalong Police, the Investigation Division of Provincial Police Region 8, local administrative officials and public health officers.

More than 50 officers took part in the operation, which began with a briefing and show of force at Chalong Police Station led by Pol Lt Col Kittikun Phuengnakphan, a drug suppression specialist with ONCB Region 8.

Following the briefing, officers simultaneously raided two locations in the Chalong Police jurisdiction.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of 119.3g of crystal meth and 15 methamphetamine pills (ya bah).

The suspects have been charged with selling Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell without permission for commercial purposes, distributing drugs within the community, and using Category 1 narcotics in violation of the law.

All three were taken to Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings.

Authorities also seized assets suspected of being connected to drug offences, including a Honda CB650F motorcycle, four electric guitars, a computer and a PlayStation games console. The items have an estimated combined value of more than B300,000 and will be investigated under asset seizure laws.

Officials said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and reduce the availability of illegal drugs in Phuket.

Authorities warned that enforcement against drug dealers, couriers and anyone supporting the narcotics trade would continue, and urged members of the public to report drug-related activity through the ONCB hotline 1386, the ONCB website or the Royal Thai Police emergency number 191.
