Catering to people with an interest in boating and luxury lifestyle, more than 3,000 high net worth individuals and wealthy jet-setters from all over the world are expected to visit before the event concludes on Sunday evening (Jan 14).
The organisers confirmed there will be an array of boats on display at the event, ranging from power and sail yachts, dinghies and day trippers up to superyachts.
While admission to the event is free, it is expected to provide a major boost to tourism and the local economy.
The event was officially launched this morning at a ceremony overseen by Kitti Chaondee, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports.
Mr Kitti welcomed guests in his opening speech then explained how important the boat show is to helping boost tourism and help the still reeling national economy recovery from the impact of COVID-19.
Mr Kitti also explained how this year’s event has built on the success of the inaugural event by expanding to offer a far greater choice of yachts and sailboats to visitors to view and potentially purchase.
He explained how the range on offer was diverse, with the most affordable vessel starting at less than B1 million, with options inbetween all the way up to superyachts costing B400mn.
There is also a display of chartered yachts, Mr Kitti explained, including the 40 metre superyacht M/Y Silentworld, which is being showcased by ISEO Yachting from Hong Kong and TJB Superyachts from London.
The organiser of the event, CEO of JAND Events David Hayes, said he was excited and delighted to welcome people from all around the world to enjoy the wide range of boats and yachts on display.
He further explained how there are a range of activities on offer throughout the four-day event to ensure every family member has a fun and engaging experience while Thailand’s marine tourism industry receives a welcome boost.
Visitors can enjoy numerous top class restaurants situated at Royal Phuket Marina and on Children’s Day on Saturday (Jan 13) there will be a series of fun games and activities organised, Mr Hayes explained.
In addition to the boat show, the Thailand Yachting Conference was held on Wednesday (Jan 10), with representatives from all across the Asia Pacific region travelling to attend.
The day’s conference was followed by a prestigious gala dinner organised by The Robb Report which incorporated the respected publication’s ‘Best of the Best Yachting Awards’.
The Thailand International Boat Show runs daily from 1pm to 8pm until Sunday (Jan 14) and is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand (MOTST), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
The event is free to attend and more details can be found at the event’s official website: www.thailandinternationalboatshow.com.
